“Good…” The god whispered into the other’s hair, fingers gently threading themselves through the mass of brown atop his head. “You need to let me in, Anthony. I know it’s difficult. I know, I’m sure you’ve heard plenty about me and this may be hard to take in but… The attack? That wasn’t me.” He stared down into the other’s eyes once he lifted his head, “It’s a… Long story but there are twins, others of myself and well, the twin who attacked New York, I can assure you, was not me.”
It sounded insane, even to himself, but it didn’t make it any less true and all he needed in that moment was for the other to believe him. It was impossible to tell, even for himself… The anxiety of the other was much too high for Loki to poke around his brain safely so with a comforting hand, the god stroked the other’s cheek gently, his own lips finding the warmth of the other’s. “I care about you, Anthony. You need to know that.”
“I care for you too.”
He returned the kiss gently, curling up into him. There was something incredibly comforting about Loki’s presence, that made his racing heart calm and made him stop shaking so violently. “I don’t like being like this—I don’t like you seeing me like this… I’m a hassle, and a mess… I know that…”
“I’m glad that you think so. Do you really want to be the president?”
“I do really want to be the president, but I was arrested… three, four, five times. Five times, there we go.”
